With the LED offroad market - there are endless companies that buy the Chinese ****, put their name on it and run a mark up. Probably the same game ran in this market as well
The HD Daymaker is made by JW Speaker. In the USA.
I have the one with the (2) "D" lights, they fill the blind spots to the sides in turns The TL7 didn't..

I've been running the 1st gen Moto Illumination LED for about a year and I'm very pleased with it. I couldn't care less if it's DOT approved or not, it's bright as **** and way better than the DOT stock headlight it replaced.

I did go from the 7" TL7 to the 5 3/4" Daymaker and am happy with it.
Direct cycle parts has them in the $300 range

Had to take a die-grinder to it for a while. The fit is tight, but it does fit. Still sorting out some wiring, but I'll post a thread on the weekend about how it looks.

I have the DK customs HID bulb. Huge difference from stock, especially at night. Only about $80

I really like my Gen 2 Motollimination light. Got it during his valentines day sale. $30 discount, IIRC. Great quality and bright!

Maybe that's true, maybe not, however, people I ride with tell it is ridiculously bright and I know that I can see exponentially better at night. I'm sure lots of guys will that complain that its a Chinese light or for $100 it must be crap or "insert excuse" but the light works great and the price was right for me.
I'm waiting on mine to show up right now. After reading, digging and looking at several options, I went with this. I've heard several good reviews n this one from Sunpie. For $90 on Amazon, you can't beat it.

Just got my 5-3/4" bulb from "Kjetdirect". Same as you , I had to grind quite a bit to fit the module in the headlight bucket. Haven't run it yet to compare. I was a bit stumped about what to do with the "canbus" module that comes with these lights. My 1999 bike doesn't need the module, so, since it doesn't fit in the bucket I guess I'll just leave the module out.

Is that what everyone else is doing with the older bikes?

I order this light earlier this month, true plug and play. And literally turns night in to day. I could not be more satisfied. I will never own a Harley with out a Daymaker.

They still have free shipping until tomorrow. I got mines in 2 days.
