Default Carbonfiberhelmets.com Testimony

Yesterday I was meeting up with a friend/coworker to head out for an afternoon ride. He ends up being late to the point that I'm starting to get a little pist since he is cutting into my precious riding time. No calls, no messages nothing. So after waiting a good 45 minutes, I get a message from him,"I'm down the street, been in an accident and I'm laying on the road, you can't miss me." Besides feeling like a idiot for getting pist at him, I rush down to the scene where he has already been taken away (lucky the hospital was less than a mile away). He was going straight through an intersection with a green light, opposing traffic had the same green and a left turn lane. Guy didn't yield on his left turn as he was supposed to (not a green arrow) and sent my buddy airborne over the hood of the car. Amazingly, no major damage to my friend just bumps and bruises.

He was wearing a non-DOT approved carbon fiber helmet which faired well. Just some major scratches and a few chips out of it. No melon damage to my friend ( at least none that happened yesterday). While I'm not saying go novelty, I am impressed with the way the helmet held up and makes me happy to have a DOT version of their helmet on my head. Though my idea of a ride was not from my house to the Emergency Room, all ended as good as it could. Though I haven't seen the V-Rod yet.

Morale of the story- Northern Virginia Drivers suck.

Trotter,
I call to plan something for Rolling Thunder, if you wouldn't mind me jumping in with your group.

i hate hearing about motorcycle accidents... glad your friend is okay

...and i have a non DOT carbonfiber helmet, also.... great helmet!....lightweight, and very comfortable with the leather ear flaps!

i wouldn't want another helmet

my theory: drive in comfort.... because if you don't drive in comfort, you search for it, and by that you compromise your focus because of the anxiety and frustration behind discomfort...that is, heavy helmet (head and neck ache).... leather with armor on a 90 degree day (salty sweat dripping into your eyes and fogging your goggles) ....big bulky boots (messing up your ability to "feel" your shifter and break lever because of their weight)....etc, etc.

who's with me?

of course...this is just my opinion

Man I'm glad he's OK. Don't be too hard on yourself for being pissed. I would have been too. Hind-sight is always 20-20.

the non-DOT CFH actually fares better than most DOT helmets.
Speedy recovery for you friend.
