Default Question about the K&N filter element on the SE air filter

I'm having an SE Air Cleaner, SERT, and some V&H Big Shots installed on my '06 FXDCI. Some people on the forums have suggested replacing the filter element with a K&N which I'm all for, but will I need to have the dealer dial in the SERT differently for the K&N filter? I don't plan on swapping out the element that comes with the SE until next season and I don't really want to have my bike re-dynoed when I do it.

I suppose it would make a change to your airflow - by how much is really the question.
I've been running the SE kit, with the SE filter (I think I got the first year they stopped using the oil'd element, which may have been a K&N) for a couple years now. I've got good horsepower and tq and I can't believe the K&N would do anything more for me than what I already have -
look at it this way - if you did need to re-tune, would it be worth the couple hundred bucks for 1 or 2 increase in hp/tq?
If you don't need to do a re-tune - I guess it doesn't matter. You can just buy one and see if your bike starts coughing/popping/etc. if it does, I'd say "f it" and just put the SE one back in.

That was kind of my plan, just throw it in there and see what happens.

Think it would be worth while to let the dealer set it up with the blue ring filter for now then just take it back in a year and have them re-dyno? couldn't cost more than $100 bucks for them to do it right? Might be worth it to have it re-dynoed after a year anyway. I want to go with the K&N at some point, but I've pretty much hit my budget celing for this particular project this season.
