Checking oil hot really isn't bad either, I just wear something like a Mechanix glove and it's fine.
How's the heat coming off the pipe when riding/stationary? Ever burn your jeans? I tend to hug the bike with my legs when riding (thanks sport bikes), inside half of my footpegs are worn down but the outside look new.

I have the black Danmoto highwayman on my 2014 fxdb...8500 miles, no issues at all, seems solid so far. Sounds awesome, as most have said with their 2-1, its a pretty quiet idle, but sounds like a beast when you open it up. As far as performance, I don't have a benchmark to compare it to. Previous owner put it on, if it was my choice I would have gone with stainless steel for sure, love the look.

The RR3 ships with one small shield that installs high on the rear pipe (see my signature pic). You can basically put it where you need it. I'm never aware of pipe heat while riding, and have never burned clothing. Like you, I hug the tank with my knees when riding aggressively.

Additional bonus with the RR3: Lots of ground clearance!

How's the ground clearance? It doesn't look like they come with heat shields and it passes pretty close to the foot peg, any issues with heat or burning your shoes?

I asked the same question a few posts above yours.

Was this your experience with the pipe? The few reviews I can find are mostly positive. I’d like to hear from someone that’s put some miles on one. Did yours fall apart?

Open ended threads like this can get confusing. It happens.

ive seen people complain that it’s cheap china crap. They use inferior steel and don’t properly prep the welds so they fail over time. I’ve seen a pic of the welds failing on the merge collector causing it to crack in half
