Default 2006 dyna with vance and hines big shots baffles?

thinking about either cutting or replacing the baffles on my bike. its got the vance and hines big shot pipes on it. just doesnt seem loud enough for my liking (or maybe im starting to go deaf) nand it seems like it choking a bit. just wondering if there are any good sounding baffles out there or if cutting is an option

I have short shots on mine, and just ordered DK Custom thunder torque inserts. Didn't install them yet. Might be the solution you're looking for. There's a good amount of threads on them. Also, in regards to the choking, maybe there's an exhaust leak? I had one of my exhaust bolts come off and completely changed sound and performance. Replaced the lost bolt and everything was good again.

A pair of DK Custom Products Thunder Torque Inserts will deepen the tone of your Big Shots. I'm running W158's with baffles removed on my Big Shots Staggered pipes and the tone is deep without the bright brassy overtones that always come with V&H pipes. The TTI's bring back the low and mid range torque and help prevent reversion in to the exhaust as well.

I've run the TTI's now in 3 different BSS installs; 2 carb bikes and now with my new FI and I'm a real fan of the performance increase and the deep resonant tone of the pipes

The latest install:

Can you run the TTIs with the baffles still in place?

Hey, I have some replacement VH baffles in my garage from my V and H bigshots staggered. From my old low rider, that are just sitting there. If you want to experiment some. I think one set has a little surface rust from garage moisture the others are new. You can have them if you want just send a few bucks for shipping. I don't need them.

You certainly can. Using the example of the V&H Big Shots Staggered if you planned on using the TTI's with the baffles in place you should step down to the 118 from the 158 to allow for the baffle still in place in the pipe.

With TTI's and baffles you will notice an increase in the low RPM torque and while the exhaust tone will be deeper the volume of the pipe will also be quieter.

Which setup will yield a deeper tone? 118 with stock baffles on the big shots or 158 with no baffles.

Also, any drilling required with either setup on the big shots?
