RE: Washing black demin paint
I use dawn dishwashing liquid and a wet handtowel so I can get into all the cracks. After washing, I hand dry it with a soft cotton (scratch-free) towel. If the wife's not around, you can use a big soft bath towel (ha ha). Then I wax it and take the wax off with another soft cotton (scratch-free) towel. I save the towel in my saddlebag for wiping off the dust when needed. For in-between cleanings, I take a hand towel and a bucket of hot water and give it a *****'s bath; wiping it down and rinsing/wringing the the towel frequently. Then I put a light coat of wax on it and remove it with the "wax towel" from my saddlebag. The waxing removes any water marks and makes it shine while providing protection.

Why wash it at all?
Washing will not help any denim color, it will still look like crap.
I was at a bike rally this weekend with at least 3000 bikes and I spent a good deal of time looking at the different bikes out there and seen only 2 denim bikes, one black and one blue.
God, I hope its only a fad and goes away.
I guess it takes different strokes for different folks but denim makes me puke. [X(]
