no benefit, no foul handling characteristics either. just one of those things that works.
But I think tire flex comes into play when you run a radial front with a bias rear, causing adverse handling affects.
I've ran bias tires front and rear, radial rear with a bias front and cant tell a difference and felt comfortable with both.

Bias tires have a hard side wall and radials flex.
radial in the rear bias in the front.
I have run that combo with two different sets of tires.
Works for me.
Just make sure to run the rear radial with a radial tube for wire rims.
The radial tube is very thick in the center in case a spoke extends.
