Default Anyone Running Johnson or AMS Lifters?

I've read several places that Johnson made twin Cam OEM Harley Lifters from 99-2001 and then they went out of business or Harley reduced cost by changing to Delphi lifters but the Johnson lifters were much better for Harleys. Now they are making lifters again as Hylift but I do not see any lifters for HD's on there site.

Anyway, It seems that someone is making the original design lifter again. it seems that a few companies are selling them.. AMS & this other site.. AMS is selling them as part A2313, and this other site is selling them as V2313.

Also I'm reading this info on a lot of message boards but not finding anyone who is actually running these lifters. I've read a few things that suggest the lifters had some problems 5+ years ago.

Has anyone actually used them?

I'm only buying lifters cause I'm getting the cam tensioner pads replaced and figured I'd might as well get these replaced at the same time.. I don't think I have any issues with the stockers on my 2003 but I've read that these can be shitty lifters anyway, another reason to replace them.

But these Johnson lifters are cheap too, only $61 for a set on ebay. I suspect they are the V2313's since they are called "V-Lift".

DO you think they are okay lifters for a totally stock 88? I don't want upgraded cams, I like getting 45 mpg.. so the motor will be completely stock.

thanks

Can't speak for the lifters but I do think AMS is a solid Harley performace outfit. I had my cylinders bored out and headwork done by them - happy customer. I went with S&S lifters but would not be worried about running the AMS ones.

yeah, AMS seems like a great outfit, but I bet the lifters on ebay are not the same lifters that AMS is selling on their site, or maybe they are because why would hylift or AMS put out different design lifters? that's where I'm confused. But it seems AMS would choose the hylift lifter for a reason, they must believe it's a good lifter to start with.

I have Johnson lifters in my evo. Work great. And the price isn't bad. I went with them for dependability and they have not let me down

A friend has been running the Hylift Johnson lifters in his stage 4 103 for about 50K miles. Hasn't had any issues. Recently it has begun to sound like lifters are not staying pumped up after sitting over night.

that's a good endorsement, I like to buy USA made stuff when I can, I heard most of them are made in Mexico now.
