That can be removed and will be, now you've pointed it out.
Workin fine (unmodified) on my old FXDX (of course, they're the earlier 39mm forks) for the past few years, without incident or concern. It's done about 25k.
Thanks.
You need to use the search function and go back somewhere around 2006 or later and read my write up when I first did this on Member Jay Risk's bike. I show you why you do not use what you did (recommend removing calipers immediately), why it will not work, and what you have to do to make it work. The un-swept area is there for a reason. It is your life and your bike so I will only provide this information once. You have never had a rotor come apart at speed.

Damn, Howard, you're up late! I hope I'm not misrepresenting anything we discussed. I try to be as accurate and unbiased as I can.

I am lost, what are you talking about? Give me a call after 8am as I am working on trying to get back log shipped. My goal is to have nothing to do come Wednesday.

Sorry. Just thinking about your reply to Harley_Jeff with regard to inaccuracy on pricing, availability, and delivery. Don't waste your time on me. Get yourself free and clear for the holiday!

On the brakes- this is what I thought.

The pads overhang the rotors on the late-model FXD when bolting on the "Brembo" calipers.

The XR1200 calipers and master cylinder work exceptionally well with Dyna fork legs and the 11.8 inch disc rotor, although a bit of machine work on the caliper lugs is required to center the caliper over the rotor depending on which Dyna fork legs you're installing them on. the photo shows XR calipers on Fat Bob fork legs. With braided lines these have massive stopping power, true two finger brakes.

Yep, apologies if you were led astray.
Perhaps you were already aware?

multihdrdr - I note a post asking if others were interested in an alternative solution to using the touring Brembos on '06 on Dynas, but nothing more, no detail.
FastHarley- I couldn't find your original explanation of alternatives, the search function and I are not close friends.
However, I'm well aware of the requirement for an unswept area.

Thanks, yes, thanks.

They're now removed, I'll seek other options.

The standard brakes on the LRS are ****, in light of the Nissin available on the current Softail as a single caliper/rotor.

No more shall I waste a word about brakes in this thread.
My apologies too for those who have to wade through this off topic subject.

Let's get back to the Ohlins cartridges for the 49mm forks on Dynas.

Not to hijack the thread, but has anyone tried the Ohlins-equipped Kraus kit for Dynas? I'm curious to hear opinions from anyone who has ridden a bike with it installed.
