Default 09 fxd build

This is my current bike its an 09 fxd. It has thunderheader pipes, big sucker intake, power commander 5 ,evil 11 inch risers, rental bars, cyrca handgaurds, fmf grips. Im learning to do wheelies on it. I get the bike up pretty easily but i defiantly want to make more power. I come from a street bike background and it was always easy for me to do them on that but its a whole different world on these hogs. I have so crash bars, different pegs and a few other little things on order as we speak. Im trying to figure out what I wanna do with the motor. If i want to step in to a big bore S&S kit or do cams or something of that nature. Any input would help. Also I've been contemplating doing a chain drive and putting a nice big sprocket on the rear.

I would think a chain drive that lowers your gearing, 106" or 107" big bore kit, and some low rpm hitting cams would serve you well - maybe Andrews 48. Headwork would be great too but not sure how much your budget is.

Maybe some good leather riding wear too!

For $2k-$3k you can do a big bore kit no prob (around $800). Good head port work is around $500-$1,200. A cam kit will set you back around $500. Little bits and pieces start adding quick, but at least you have a great starting point(pipes, & tuner).

Andrews front 30t pulley and a rear 2006 dyna 70t rear sprocket will make your bike a totally different animal.....a freakin stump puller. If you do a lot of wheelies then maybe a chain conversion might be a better/stronger option.

To save money, just get your cylinders bored out to a 107" with new pistons and rings. Almost any decent Harley shop should be able to do this for you. Personally I would recommend Fuel Moto or GMR Performance. S&S makes a nice kit with new cylinders for a bit more $.

You are probably ~ $1500 for chain drive, big bore, and cams if you do the install yourself so yo might be able to get some headwork, but if you are paying somebody then maybe not.

Use some Cometic .030" head gaskets to get a compression bump too.

What about fork seals and head bearing races? Where's your oil pick up? Is it going to "pump air" when the engine is tilted back (as during a wheelie?)
