I'm assuming they will grind flat with no problem, but before I get there only to discover spotty welds, I thought I would ask. I'd rather not start welding on it to fix pinholes. My welding skills are the suck.

Does H-D sell any modern Big Twin bikes without a tank bib to hide the seams?

my 05 FXDL has a center dash down the middle, but there is no external weld underneath it. There is, however, a recess riveted into the tank underneath the speedo/tach, but that shouldn't be an issue for what I think you are trying to do.

No. I'll leave the console but I'd like to eliminate the tank bib without having to look at the welds.

Yes. My FXD has no visible seam under the console. But of course, that has the center fuel fill and speedo on the bars. Doubt that's any help to you, but since you asked . . .

Mine is similar, just with the different dash set up

Interesting... I wonder if the manufacturing process changed when they went to FI or if they just grind certain models. I suppose I'll take mine off and grind it. If it looks pinholey, I'll have it TIG welded.

They're "good & solid" until you molest them...

I don't see any problem dressing the weld up with a sander, a good weld would have 100% penetration
