Default 96"top end

My 2001 WG has 90k on it and is burning a little too much oil. I found a brand new set of 96" cylinders and pistons on e-bay for 120 bucks. Will they fit on my 88" cases and can I use my old heads?

I *think* the 88" and 96" cylinders are exactly the same, but the pistons are different. Heads should be no issue.

The 96 is a stroked 88 so the difference is actually in the length of the stroke, not the bore of the cylinders...so same size bore on those cylinders as your stock 88s.

The 96 cylinders would work, but nothing for you to gain.

The 96 pistons have a different wrist pin location so they won't work with your 88 connecting rods.

The heads and cylinders are interchangeable and if you get a set of 2006+ heads, they have better flow than the older ones...just can't use stroker pistons.

Does that make sense?

BigPete on here has economical big bore kits...I have used 2 of them and both bikes run great. Both are 95".

To Use the heads you need different intake flanges, but an easy deal.

The pistons are wrong for an 88.

Do a 95" kit since you need Pistons anyway (most likely).

That was my worry, the wrist pins. Thanks for the input.
