Went for my first ride since I had been out of town for the past three weeks and at the end of my ride my kickstand spring fell off. I was riding with my step dad and luckily he noticed I wasn't behind him anymore. We ended up tying it up with a shop rag to get home. I'm just glad I was already off the freeway. I'm going to take it to my dealer tomorrow and hopefully they will fix it for me.

 

Mine did the same thing going 60.
Clang, clang, clang I didn’t know what was going on.
Pulled over and yep my spring was MIA.
A bungee cord saved my day.
The dealer put a new spring on the next day.
He said that was the first time it’s ever happened.
I wonder?

Your Dealer is a Stupid *** moron. I personally have seen it happen 2 times and had it happen to me one time....lol.

I picked up a new spring from the dealer today. When I installed it, I also safety wire it on both ends. If anything, hopefully it will hold on to the spring if it pops off. We shall see

 

Had one fall off also. It popped off when the stand was raised. Fortunately one of my buddies had a big screw driver that I used to pry it back on. I thought it was just anisolated incident but after seeing how many of you guys have had it happen, I thinkI will add a few zip ties to the tool bag.

 

Mine went MIA as wellwith 300 miles on the clock.
My salesman paid for a new one for me since I didnt wanna bring the bike in for a warranty issue (100 mile round trip).
I put a couple of tie wraps on it just in case it tries to blast off again.

 

Happened on my dad's sportster while in Tennessee. The HD mech said it happens a lot--so much in fact he didn't have a spring in stock!

 

Interesting, I think I will zip tie mine just in case.
