Default Motor lugs when hot or ETMS?

So I searched for the engine temp management system which shuts off the rear cylinder but can't find what im looking for. I believe it has been activated on my bike, but im not sure. I read that some people say the exhaust noise changes at idle when the rear cylinder shuts off, but I have not noticed a change in sound on my bike, However when my bike is hot and I take off from a stop light it feels like the motor is luggin and takes a moment to run "normally". Is this because of the ETMS?

-14 low rider, all stock except V&H Slipo-ns.

The next time you come to a red light, roll the throttle forward just a bit, this will tell you if it has been enabled on your bike. When the bike goes into "parade mode" you should definitely notice a change in the exhaust note and the way the bike just feels sitting still as the vibrations will decrease a great deal. It's very noticeable. All it takes is a little roll on the throttle to come out of it and there could be a slight delay but it shouldn't be too much of one.

Thanks, ill try this tonight....if it is not enabled...what would cause the motor to lug and almost studder when taking off from a stop? its strange, once i get moving 5-10mph it runs fine, I can roll on the throttle and it will take off

Not giving it enough throttle would be my first guess.

If indeed the bike is going into parade mode while stopped and you take off, the bike is not going to instantaneously come right out of the hole and rocket away. It takes about a half second or so for the computer to switch back to normal operation. So blip the throttle once and then pull away.

The procedure to disable it should be in the owner's manual, but here's that section from the touring bike manual. Maybe it'll work for you.

dynas arent fly by wire so nothing above is going to help..

the EITMS 2012 later with canbus has to be enabled by dealer, if yours is enabled you WILL KNOW.... when it is hot when that rear cylinder shuts off it makes a distinct sound and the bike will shake a lot more than it normally does at idle and YES it will be sluggish when you take off until the computer detects more throttle and starts giving it fuel again...

best bet if it is in fact turned on and you don't have an issue with your bike is do what I do, when it is on in traffic or at a stop light/any stop in general, blip the throttle before trying to take off that reactivates the rear cylinder and then you can take off normally..

He means Dyna's are NOT throttle by wire. So the TBW touring manual doesn't apply.
