Default Remus custom exhaust

Right, my street bob has a Remus custom slipon exhaust.Looks good but it's just too quiet. Can I remove the baffles ? Will it alter the way the engine runs ? How can I make more noise with this set up ?
Thanks in advance for any help or advice folks.

Removing your baffles is just going to lean your bike out. Whatever your "setup" may be (that is not mentioned here) will need to be re-tuned/re-jetted to make it run properly. OR you can do like a bunch of other people do that don't want to spend the money on good exhaust or anything for that matter and just ride it around running like sh*t while making more noise. Whether you realize it or not, it will not be running the same. Yes, It'll be louder. Will it sound better? Matter of opinion. My recommendation is to just buy a quality exhaust system.

I spoke to a well known bike builder and HD parts specialist here in the UK today. His answer was this.
If your bike is stock as mine is (2010 Street Bob) then if all you're doing Is altering the exhaust it won't do any harm. The ECU will take readings from the sensors within the exhaust and adjust the fueling accordingly. You will lose low down power but will pick it up at the top end. It becomes a problem when you add a bigger intake but if you're running stock it's no issue.
So, it's all down to if I can live with a little low down power loss and if I like the noise. Yep, I can live with it...

It seems you posted asking for advice?? Then you posted what your indie said. I would recommend doing whatever you want to do with exhaust or intake then reprogram. Up to you.

I posted that incase anyone else was wondering. I spent a week or so on various forums and chatting to others and the answers I got varied from it'll be fine right through to itll warp the heads !!
I just wanted to point out that the ECU will adjust the fuelling. It will lose some torque but that will be the only downside. There will be no harm done.
Having run it baffle free over the weekend there is no noticeable difference in performance apart from losing a little low end grunt while actually gaining a bit top end and the sound is just how I'd like it.
One guy yesterday had run baffle free for three years and his Bob is fine. Obviously if your changing the intake then you need to do other work but on a standard Bob just changing the exhaust will do no harm.

Do whatever floats your boat. When I changed the pipes on my 2010 superglide it seemed fine until I hit about 70 in 5th

I will be the first to trumpet loud pipes, but I am also of the opinion that anyone that runs open pipes on the street is an idiot, for 3 reasons, it sounds like ****, does not help the motor run better AT ALL, and finally you create enemies of non-bikers who are likely to raise a stink and whine about your noise. That does not help any of us.

Is that a random comment or aimed at me ?

1. I've removed the baffle from the slipon muffler. Gives it a deep but louder sound. Quite a few comments on how well it sounded actually but it's down to personal taste I suppose.
2. I never said it would make the engine run better. I lost a bit of power low down but gained top end. A compromise for the better sound I get now.
3. An 83 year old non biker pulled out on and killed a biker two days ago here because they failed to see or hear him. You think I really care what non bikers think of me for removing the baffles ?

Still, what do I know, I'm just an idiot...
