RE: Let's call it a "Fat Bob".....
This is kind of funny since as I was shopping for a bike this winter, my brain wouldn't allow me to call it a Street Bob for some reason. I always called it a Fat Bob. I said it so much that my friend that normally corrected me started calling it a Fat Bob as well by the time I had bought my bike.
That said, how bout we just call it a Fat bOOb? Nothing better than straddling a pair of fat *****....IMHO.

You have to have some years on you to know why it was called a Street Bob. When I first saw it I was reminded of the of stripped Harley's from the sixties. At that time we called them fat bobs. The tank with two caps was also called a fat bob tank. I thought "Street Bob" was a perfect name and represented the bike well. If it was re-named a "Fat Bob" that would be just fine with me.

Call the current bike the "Night Glide" and call the Nightster (that is bobbed) the Bobster.

I was thinking something along those lines. To me, the Street Bob is to the Dyna family as the Night Train is to the Softtail family, so it would be fitting to have the word "Night" somewhere in the name. NightGlide is an awesome name! Just as long as it's not "Night Rider".
Although "Street Bob" doesn't sound very cool, I don't mind it. Whatever they call it is their choice, not mine. I think "Soft Tail" sounds dorky too, but it's not my decision.

now THAT'S a GREEAT idea.
Night Glide
now that sounds....MEAN.
only problem is "glide" relates to those behemuth touring rigs, not the nimble Dyna we all love.

night glide does sound like a better fitting name and more respectable, i just call it a dyna if asked but night glide sounds alot less silly rolling off the tongue.
