RE: Does a Dyna Ride and Handle Better Than a Softail?
i test rode various soft tails. a standard, night train, and fatboy.rented a duece for a few days.i find the overall dimensions of the softail more comfortable. im 6'1" 190lb. i liked the night train aggrressive position due to the bars, and the duece fit well too. as far as handling i found the dyna to be much better. the weight to power ratio is noticeable. the shorter rake or over allgeometry or whatever it was caused the dyna to corner better, clearly. i feltin high speed corneringthe rear end of the softail was loose. many people attribute it to the hidden suspension/swing arm configuration. whatever it was, it was noticeable to me. on the highway for long rides i would say the softail would be as or more comfortably depending on your preferred riding position and size. to put it another way, i could have bought anyharley i wanted. money wasn't an issue, having only one bike was. i bought another dyna.

I was choosing between a Dyna Low Rider and the Softail Deuce. I rented both for a day with a friend and switched back and forth multiple times. I preferred the Deuce. I did not notice a big difference in handling. What sold me on the Deuce was the comfort level. The ride was much smoother on the Deuce at lower speeds, much less vibration. I expected to not like the 96B engine and was suprised that I liked it much better. The bottom line is you have to ride them both and decide for yourself. Both bikes are great, its personal preference.

agreed, the duece was smoooooth.. and pretty. great looking bike, i hate the bobtail fender and thats why the duece was so appealing. maybe because i had ridden a dyna for yearsbeforei didn't prioritize the smoothness. glady's right, both great bikes, test ride and decide...

i'm a pretty agressive rider and like the way my deuce handles overall but the skinny front tire seems to be the first thing that give out, not the rear. my wifes deluxe rides better than mine but has a wider tire on the front. i rode my buddies dyna and couldn't believe how comfortabe it was! nice bike..
