Default In search of quiter exhaust

Greetings,

Did a 3 day run a couple of weeks ago with a buddy of mine. I'm coming to the conclusion that the V&H Pro Pipe on my FLD gets too loud when above 80mph in 6th, or above 3000rpm or so. At above 3krpm, the tone transitions from a bassy cadence to a more trebly blat with a healthy decible increase.

Is there a 2-1 pipe that provides a performance increase that continues that bassier cadence through the rev range? I love the sound/tone of the Pro Pipe below 3k, but not a fan of the screaming exahust when boogeying.

Ultimately, I'm looking for something louder than stock, but quiter than the Pro Pipe above 3,000rpm. While costly, considering Supertrapp.

Thanks!

Supertrapp Supermeg 2 into 1. You can make it loud or quite. Makes great power both ways.

They make a quiet baffle for the pro pipe, it only fits the standard pro pipe. Does not fit the pro pipe hs.

I can't speak to the quiet baffle on the pro pipe but I can say that I had tried this with my Python's (made by V&H). It only lowered actual volume by 2 db's although it did help lower the tone a little bit.

The Supertrapp Supermeg has really been the ticket for me, amazing power and smoothness with lots of adjustability. I replaced my other pipes for exactly the same reason you mention. Here's the link to my first start.

I should mention I also tried DK Customs Thunder Torque Inserts (Similar to Big City Thunder), I also re-packed my quiet baffle with additional layers and materials. Obviously in the end to no avail.

I'll second the supertrapp. Awesome pipe and great tone with the closed end cap.

Any paint problems from owners of black supermegs? I called SuperTrapp to ask about the supermeg. I mentioned that I was more interested in the black pipe. The company's rep downplayed the black coating, saying it wasn't done as well as he would like.

Mine has been fine, applied nicely no chipping or anything. But I've only had them for a few months.
