I'm restoring a 82 FXRS into a mild custom and am curious about the wrapped pipes I've seen on some bikes.

How is this done or where does a person find them for an old shovelhead bike like this?

Buy any exhaust wrap from an automotive store, buy 4 hose clamps and you are set. It helps to have an extra set of hands.

 

Be prepared for a bit of smoke....wrapped the pipes of my last bike and didn't know what to expect...thought my bike was on fire on my way to work the next morning...come to find out it's normal...

 

Yes, and quite a bit of steam anytime the bike is washed too. Definately gets some looks with all that smoke when the wrapping is new, it really looks like you're on fire.
