K&N pissing all over bike and pissing me off

Not sure what my knowing what a micron is has anything to do with this but yeah. I don't know the actual decimal equivalent but it's a millionth of a meter. Something like .0001" We don't deal with metric or measurements that small at work so I'm not 100% sure without doing the math. A 5 micron filter traps most particles 5 microns or larger. They are available all over and 5 microns is effectively invisible. Looking thru a 3' thick column of water tho it is certainly enough to make the difference between clear and cloudy.
I'm not in metrology or gaging. Just a lowly technician with a high school diploma and a lot of experience. Industrial brazing, rotary draw bending, tube swaging, 3D CAD modeling and drafting, tool design and fabrication...etc. We're just industrial so we seldom work finer than +/- .0005".
I have used non-contact cmms almost daily for 20 years. Mostly Romer. You work for Hexagon by chance?

Yes. Take some name brand paper towels and double over and wrap around. Snug it wit a string. It will wick it out. What I do. Not sure how to can not really do it some.
I just leave it on for a while. If you have the football cover, you can put a light day stick on pad in the bottom and this will fix it.

Well, after some more inspection, I think I found part of the issue. I took the filter out to wipe it down some and didn't find much excess oil at all. I did however notice that the top of the filter was pretty white, the bottom nice and red. I think this could have happened for 2 reasons 1 - I plopped that puppy on too soon after oiling and it all ran down to the bottom or 2 - I recently washed the bike, but put a plastic bag over the filter. Somehow some water got in the bag, but I didn't think it got to the filter, but maybe it did. I pulled the filter, LIGHTLY oiled the part that was white and now it's hanging to dry in my garage.
Might have to try the papertowel trick, also do something different when I wash the bike...
