On tank ignition switch

On tank ignition switch
Hi just wasted a weekend attempting to fit an "on tank ignition switch"
did all the mechanics with ease, got the switch mounted, removed the old ignition switch to find only two wires going to it,(rather than the 3 everybody says there is) simple I thought just short out the two wires and the ignition will come on, but NO. so I tried all combinations of wire to wire ,wire to earth and nothing, is maybe there some electronics in the plastic moulded end.
Anybody any thoughts on this, by the way its a 2011 Street Bob

2-wire is CanBus, and yes, there is something inside the switch. On my '12 WG, one direction had 200 ohms resistance and the other way had 800 ohms resistance. If you're using an old mechanical 3-wire ignition switch, you'll need to break out the soldering iron and work some magic.
