What about a fast squirt of WD40 on the belt...

It stops car fan belts squealing, would that work for the belt as well?

Couldn't do any harm could it?

 

DON'T USE WD40!

WD attracks dirt. Dirt is bad.

If you need to know if it's the belt sqeaking, try a silicon based lube like this one by Panef.

I put it on my belt when the pulleys were shot to get me by till I could swap the belt and pulleys. You wouldn't believe how loud the belt was. A little of this stuff and it quieted right down for a few hundred miles.

Try a little on the left side of your belt. The right side shouldn't be touching the pulley flange. This is usually the source of squeaks.

This will at least tell you if your belt is indeed doing the squawking.

Does this happen when on the throttle or cruising? Or is it only when the back brake is applied? Mine has similiar sound, but only when back brake is engaged. The dealer wants me to run it in...known issue?

 

It typically happens when I'm out on the highway 4th or 5th gear usually doing 100km (65mph) or so.
