They don't remove the O2 sensors for a dealer download.

So when are they removed? Is it a particular tuner or something I should look for?

I'm not an expert on this, but I believe I've read some turners do require the O2 sensors to be removed. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than I, will chime in. How does the bike run?

If the O2 sensors are gone, that might be where the loose wire goes. I know it would cost, but you might want to have the ECM checked, just to see what's been done.

I've been getting my Sportster ready to sell (taking off parts and putting stock stuff back on). But I'm going to start to really dive into where things are on this bike. My fingers are crossed that it has some sort of a tuner hooked up that I can add an autotune to. I plan on going big bore and cams down the road. But first things first is getting the reduced reach seat off, changing the oil (should be in today), adjusting the clutch, and getting the vibration figured out (see other thread).

Put $5k in an envelope and throw it on the table-- you might get lucky, I did on an 03 egc with 32k on it and in excellent condition. The only thing that didn't work was the roll off switch. The only problem now is, which bike to ride-- lol. 02 wg or 03 egc

Uh, pretty sure the OP already bought the bike - this thread is about 3 months old...

And in case no one's looked any deeper into the O2 sensor thing, some pipes have two sets of bungs in them, one for the narrowband and one for the wideband sensors. They're different sizes and locations, so there may be different O2 sensors downstream a ways...

I'm kinda in the same boat with the tuner - I just bought a lightly used Street Bob from the local dealer that was advertised as having 'Stage 1 AC, V&H Short Shots, and a ract tuner' - and it does have the open AC & Short Shots - but I still haven't opened it up to see if there's a piggyback tuner or what...hopefully it's an autotuner so I can tweak it a bit...still seems to be running a bit lean...
