scratched rocker box, %#*&^%$!!!!!
Getting some paint on my tank starting tomorrow morning. While removing the tank, I scratched one of my rocker box covers. CRAP!!! CRAP!!! CRAP!!!! It's not too deep of a scratch, but it's deep enough to really stand out.- is it possible to polish/buff such a scartch out or should I just bite the bullet a order some new ones (ideas on which new ones are appreciated..)? I'm probably going to put a tank lift on while I have the tank off so the scratch will show if I do nothing.
Since the tank is now off the bike, I can't ride anywhere so I will drink a few (many???) beers and try to forget my bonehead manuver with the scratch.

I did the same thing but not by cutting the crossover, when I un did the rear tank mount the front slipped down an inch and put a pretty deep scratch.
I used 220 grit, then 500 grit then 1000 grit. The took a rag with Tripoli polish and rubbed the hell out of it. Gone now.
I was gonna get chrome rocker covers but after that expierience I think I will take them off and poish them to chrome look, then clear powdercoat to protect the aluminum. Won't cost me anything and if something like this happenes again it will be repairable. Ya can't buff out a chip in the chrome.
