Default it floaded again! wtf!

Ok......went to go ride today and the bike was floaded..when i went to start it a tone of gas shot out of the exhaust. Went to move it and it spilled out of air cleaner, opened dipstick and was filled with gas.

I drained the oil, opened bottom of carb to make sure float was good, put it back together filled with oil then started...would stay runnin..last about 30 sec. Opened oil plug and filled with oil again!!

I drained it again and have the carb completely off and cleaned it good.

Is there something else i should do or check before i put it all back together?

Thanks

Hi..It's got to be the Float is either Not seating properly and leaking or just plain Stuck..I can't think of anything else that would Fill up an engine with Gas Like that..I would also Check your Float height(the point at which the Float Shuts Off gas to the Bowl) the Specs should be in your Service Manual.

Check your float and make sure that it doesn't have any liquid. If it does it's bad. Most likely just need to replace the float needle.

Could it be the fuel valve/petcock is bad and is allowing extra fuel to flow into the engine?

No, it could not. Fuel level in the carburetor is controlled by the float and needle and seat.

x 2.
Now you have 4 cents of advice that says rebuild carb.
I don't know if kits come with new floats though. I would want to replace them though.

All this and only two other people mentioned the needle and seat.
They can be bought as a set,, easy if your a wrench and do a little internet searching on your model carb.
While your tearing into it,, how's it running? Maybe "re-jet" while it's broke down?
