I'm riding my bike and when I hit big bumps or apply the front brake hard I hear this clunk like the steering head is loose. You can feel it in the handlebars. 2007 wide glide. What do I have to remove/take off so I can fix this? There's nothing to tighten thatI can see without taking stuff apart.

 

Got the same thing on my '05. Stealer says there's nothing wrong with it???

Is your front disc brake a floating disc? Is your tank tight?(where it bolts to the frame?)

 

My '03 does the same thing.

 

Well if everybody's is doing it then I feel better, lol.

I've only had the bike since Tuesday, but I didn't really notice this until today.

I guess I'll mention it to the dealer when the bike goes in for the 1000 mile service.

Makes me feel better also. Thought it might just be my bike that was doing this. Then again, I'm still getting used to the different sound s coming from it.

 

Have you guys checked your steering neck bolt to make sure your neck bearings have thrust ?

I'll agree check the tank bolts. Just had this a couple weeks ago. Tank bolts were loose. Not where I expected the problem to be but it fixed it.
