The initial quoted price is way to high. I'm in SoCal also, I got a basic and black Bob for exactly MSRP +tax/lic only (no dealer fee, no prep fee, no doc fee)...which turned out to be just shy of 15K OTD. My tactic was simple, I asked several dealers around SoCal who had them on the floor, asked if they would sell it at exactly MSRP plus tax/lic, no more, no less...some said no, the first one to say yes, I said deal!!!

Don't balk at the initial offer, it was simply to see if you would agree to it, just like buyers offer lowballs....never hurts to ask. Sometimes you win, sometimes they win. If you go in educated and understand how simple negotiations work, you can always work out a fair deal. If you want rock-bottom pricing, you will need to do some pavement-pounding and alot of e-mails/phone calls. All comes down to if that potential extra $500-$1000 bucks is worth your time.

FYI...to do fair price comparison over internet forums, you can only compare to numbers in the general area. Tax/lic and area market has alot to do with it.

Good luck with your purchase.

Well now I ceartainly feel much better for what I paid for my '14 charcoal pearl SB + dealer prep+ freight. Vivid black would have been less than $13k otd.

I'm thinking this is very high, I have always had liter sport bikes and never paid msrp or higher for a vehicle in my life, but I have contacted three dealer in my area and none will even give a quote without coming in. I think 14k is more than fair considering invoice on the bike I want is 11,059$. Any advice or dealer recommendations? I'm in Riverside, CA
Yup, go to BIGG'S in San Marcos. Ask for Mark B. He's the sales mgr. Go in his office and talk turkey. I'm not allowed to say what kind of deal I got (for my GF, last January.) Yeah, it was smokin'.

I just got my 2015 Black Denim Street Bob last month, OTD price 15,680. OTD, including taxes, DMV fees, CA emissions, yadayada... OTD $15,680. Fair price if you ask me. I got mine in Modesto, CA. Dealers in Oakland and Livermore wouldn't work with me on pricing. Got a free shirt and hat too

Yeah, but you have to consider that in Missouri we don't pay sales tax until we register the machine at the DMV. And, unless you're stuck in StL or KC, there's not exactly super high demand for most models. I don't know anything about Cali, but I know if you go next door to Illinois, you will pay sales tax at the dealer - on the spot - or the bike doesn't go anywhere.

Also, where I am, taxes are very low. Obviously if I lived in a larger urban area, the sales tax would be considerably higher. Not something you would really notice on a pair of jeans, but on a several thousand dollar purchase, I'd think you would.

So, it all really depends on what a particular person's state and local laws require to consider it truly OTD pricing.
