Default Leather vs vinyl Le Pera

Hey everyone

Looking at getting a Le Pera Barebones for my Street Bob. I have leather seats in my car and its nice but is it worth the $$$ for getting leather vs vinyl for the Street Bob?

Thank you for your thoughts

There is no substitution for leather, it is beautiful, durable, will out last vinyl two to one.
That being said, you have to be so careful to keep it dry, in damp climates you have to be careful of mold.
For a show bike, garage kept, bike ridden in dry weather it is great.
If you live in Florida, ride in the rain on a regular basis, then go vinyl.

I have the regular Barebones on my bike, I chose not to go with the leather because I didn't want the extra maintence along with the added $$. I absolutely love my seat and wouldn't change it, maybe someone with the leather one will weigh in with a differing opinion but mine is for the regular one. Good luck with your choice.

That's good info from both sides. I live in the Bay Area. Ride in the rain occasionally. Still not sure now tho. Lol.

I have a leather seat on one bike and vinyl on the other. I HATE the vinyl on a hot summer day. Vinyl make you sweat, leather don't. I'm actually having my vinyl seat reupholstered in leather because of this. So IMO, if you spend hours in the saddle, leather's the way to go. If you just do mostly short bar hops, it really don't matter much either way.

When you wash your bike. Do you have to cover the seat. How often are you conditioning the leather?
Thank you

I've got leather on two Le Pera's and one 23 year old Corbin. Leather all the way. They hold up well. They get wet when I wash them, don't really condition them...If I ever have to I'll recover them. Worth it all the way.

So you probably spent $1000 or more on a leather option in your car and then want to question us about weather an extra $50 on a motorcycle seat is worth the price? Go get a Prius!

If you ride in the rain for periods of time you'll probably want vinyl. If you don't, then leather isn't a bad option. As for me, I've ridden in all-day rain and leather will retain water longer. So leather isn't a choice for me.

We'll I have two custom leather solo spring seats. I have a rain cover that I put on when it rains, it goes on then my rain gear goes on.
It's not a deal breaker, I love the leather, but needs to be figured in.
