I thoroughly enjoy both the cleaning and the riding.

Please enlighten me -- is it some sort of breather?

What ludville1 has done is route crankcase gasses to atmosphere. HD is required to vent the hot, oily crankcase gasses back in to the intake which does your engine no favors. Routing the gasses to atmosphere you will lower intake temperatures, keep your throttle body and intake clean, and you will see a small bump in performance.

Several different methods to vent the crankcase to atmosphere, ludville1 wanted to keep his HO air cleaner so his solution is discrete and effective. I've taken a different route to vent to atmosphere, but venting the crankcase gasses externally is an important and worthwhile modification.

Today I just ordered the front and rear chrome heat shields for the OEM exhaust headers. I guess I'll go to the hardware store or autozone for the clamps. I'll do a little sanding on the support rod/bracket that attaches to both the mufflers.

continue taking straightshots off the bike

Just a word of advise. Buy stainless steel clamps if possible.

I.E. make sure the screw looks identical (surface appearance-wise) to the band

Default finished Ape to tear swap

Wrapped up my 16" ape to t-bar swap and added all stainless front lines. Also did the 1,000 mi service while it was apart.
