I saw under my dash when I did the tank lift. It was all shiny, unscratched paint. That's what originally gave me the idea on doing a shorter dash. Seems a shame to have a wide strip of plasting hiding all that beautiful paint.

I can't recall if there was a seam ridge there or not. If there is a seam it was smooth enough that it didn't bother me. I'll have to take it off again and look.

Something like this where the tank doesn't have a plastic or leather strip covering the lower half of the tank.

I dig the cats eye dash. What model came with them(aside from 1940s)?

My FXDC definitely did not have a "finished" weld seam under the bib. I sanded down and smoothed it to better than factory when I repainted the tank, but didn't bother to make it perfect because I didn't anticipate ever not running the bib.

And yes, other than that there's no reason you couldn't mount the dash without the bib.

Sissy bar installed! I also rotated my handlebars back to line up straight with the forks. I didn't like having them sticking straight up and it wasn't comfortable. Much more comfortable having them pulled closer to me.

Went for a long ride and the bike is running great! No rattling, just the nice purr of the engine. I got up to about 85mph on the highway and no wobble. Vibration is normal and not even something I think about any more. Loving this bike!

Sweet, I like how the tall sissy bars look but I'm too lazy to lift my leg over the bike instead of around the back, LOL..I would constantly bonk my leg on it.

Grab your right ankle to keep our boot back as you swing your leg over if you get on from the left side; or mount and dismount on the high side, like all the cool kids do You'll never touch the sissy bar that way...
