New suspension weekend!
Last weekend I finally got around to tackling the suspension job on my '06 Street Bob. My friend Phil came down with his little boy for the weekend, and I was waiting for his arrival to do the job, because he used to own the bike.
Here are some pics and story:
Progressive's Monotube system for the front end separates springing and damping between left and right forks. Since the damping cartridge is sealed, fork oil now only is for lubrication of sliding parts, so less is used...
Bitubo shocks for the rear, with both preload and damping adjustments...
Phil and Miles, stock forks about to come off...
Side by side of the new chrome lower leg vs. stock...
New front end installed...
Stock shocks...
And the Bitubo's...
The whole job took a couple of hours of work, interrupted by dinner and an ice cream shop run.
I took it for a short ride the next day when the sun was warm enough, and the new ride quality is so nice. Firmer and more compliant at the same time.
All the best,
Shane

Yesterday I signed some papers and brought it home in frosty 40 degree weather. Today I played with the LCD speedometer display, setting the clock. Tomorrow it's going to be 60 degrees as well as the weekend.
So far I've bought a cover for it, and 4 pairs of sunglasses (different shades), a balclava (sp?), And a helmet for myself.

IT'S ALIVE!!! As of 3:30 PM 02/18/2017, no leaks, no codes, no problems beyond a dead rear brake light switch, everything works. Went around the block a few times, the bike feels really good and the brakes are nice!!!
Considering how much work was done to the wiring harness, I couldn't be happier with the way the light off went. Next adventure is TTS Mastertune.
