What can I say, I'm a belt and suspenders kind of guy (push-lok and clamps). I like the liquid filled gages because if they're knocked off the bench or kicked across the floor, I think the glycerin fill softens the impact a bit, I think they will hold calibration longer (by the way I have to remember to top off the glycerin fill).
I build this stuff because I couldn't find anything I liked and Its fun for me, "time out of mind". Stuff like this is good for me because it's a short little project I can point to and say I finished something.
The bike is ready to fire up and sort out finally, the checklist is mostly crossed off and the friggin house is falling apart. I need my wife gone for three days to get it on the road (it's my first dance with TTS Mastertune), distractions kill all progress for me, I must be able to embrace my inner OCD. So that's why I'm doing all the off the wall stuff rather than bike progress.
There's hope though, she might be off to Las Vegas starting Thursday for a week, that would be nice.

Well done
Absolute truth! The two smartest things I've bought for this '13 are a Power Vision and a J&S lift...

I own a few Harbor freight things like 1/2in ratchet, 1/2in impact sockets, breaker bar, motorcycle jack, and 3 ton jack and they dont owe me a dime. They've all paid for themselves via money saved on at home repairs and the installs of lift and leveling kits on friend's trucks but the motorcycle jack just isnt heavy duty enough for a 700lb bike IMO and is a bit tippy. I'm always afraid my bike will fall while I have a wheel off while I put tires on, and I think the J&S and pit bull jacks are made better, wider, and heavier which makes them much more stable. Ideally I'd have a full bike lift with a little screw jack to lift one end at a time, but thats more money and space I'm not ready to spend yet.
But one cant deny while the hand tools from Harbor Freight are pretty good (not the most precise or loaded with nifty features but they'll get the job done,) the majority of their power tools are crap and wear out quickly, and the stuff like drill bits and other tool "consumables" are are pretty sub standard if you've used better stuff like what most contractors and tradesman are using. That said I dont always discount them off the list when considering new tools, but I've recently started buying much nicer tools as a young man that will likely last the rest of my life.
