I used 1/8" for the through hole and a 1/4" to bevel the top of the hole.

Default Replaced valve stem core

Went out yesterday morning and checked the air pressure on both wheels since it was going to take the dyna out. topped off the front and back and the rolled the bike out of the garage. went back in the house to get ready to leave.

came out warmed up the **** and went to take off but, it was hard to turn the bars... got off the boke and found that fromt tire was completely flat....

pulled compressor hose out to the bike and filled it back up.... Decided to abort mission until i figured out what happed, rolled it back into the garage. check the pressure again... had dropped a few psi. i was scratching my head because it was at 36 before i topped it off.

i figured that i must have bent the little valve, with the extenstion hose, and it was pressing against the cap when i put it back on. so didnt put the cap back on this time. while i was out o picked up new stem cores (wopping $1.29). got back and checked the tire.... it was at 38, where it was when i left it.

changed the stem core, refilled, and put the cap back on. will check it when i get back.

Scraped gasket surfaces in the rockers and air intakes. That took a lot more work than I thought it would.

I have a pic of the end result, if you like but here is a pic from a retailer who sells a kit to update pre 2011 bikes with the mod.

The process is to use a 1/8" bit to drill through the rocker housing in those spots. I also used a 1/4" bit to bevel the top of the hole as well, but don't drill any further than the taper at the end of the 1/4" bit. The secondary part is to replace the forged breather assemblies from the pre-2011 motors with the stamped ones. You would need two of PN 17025-03A. It includes the breather, bolts, and screen. The Rockouts instructions come with pictures if that is what you were asking about.
