The time it takes to drive to the nearest dealer, traffic in that part of town, the gas money, and the fact that I would have to deal with the arrogant, elitist, conceited, ******** I know are at this particular HD dealer means I buy online.

Edit: sorry for the rant but I hate my local HD dealer with a passion. I have never had a good experience going there, so I don't go there anymore. Even the thought of going there makes me depressed.

Not all HD dealers are bad. I loved the HD dealer when I lived in Charlotte NC

I tied a speaker magnet to a string and would sweep/drag it across the grass when a screw or small item went flying...

...but then this circlip did not go flying. It was taken off when the front end was disassembled. I'm usually good at storing parts but this one got lost in the shuffle.

BTW; damn i'm glad those working outside days are over. I love my tiny shop!

Drilled a small hole in the top triple tree for the small tab for the lock washer that lies just beneath the steering stem nut. The triple tree did not come with the hole for some reason - the hole was started but not finished or deep enough for the tab. Torqued the stem nut, bent the lock washer snug to the side of the stem nut - re-installed stem nut beauty chrome cover.

Glad I remembered to back up and take care of that.

PS hey ccgorman, any idea of when you will get started on your bike?

I took my cam chest cover off to inspect timing chain tensioners. I'm running on borrowed time

Nothing specific yet. Still have to navigate the insurance labyrinth and get the bike back in my hands...maybe 2 weeks for that? Then, I need to get a lot stronger before I can physically turn a wrench. Doctor says I'm non-weight-bearing for another 4 weeks or so. Not sure how long after that I'll actually be able to do real work with these currently dead arms. Right now, pulling closed a car door, reaching around to grab the seat belt, and pulling it down to latch into place is quite an ordeal that tests both my range of motion and strength. I'll make a full recovery, but it will take time. I'll probably get started on the bike before my arms are 100% but only some simple tasks. We'll see how it goes. Turning wrenches will likely become part of my rehab. I guess I could see doing a little work by the first of October...?

I remember it took a year for my knee to get back to good. I would fall down as my knee gave out - usually when I just woke up/half asleep. To this day I have to hold my knee with both hands when I stand up after kneeling down. It's wobbly. Hey, you could start a thread on your bike rebuild!
