What did you do to your Dyna today?

Nope. Not the one in the avatar. But yes, I deserved it. lol. Although taking it out on my bike was uncalled for in my opinion.

I put the horn back on. Put some black electrical tape on the coils of one of the rear shocks to see how it will look. I like it. I think I will paint the coil sections with some VHT satin black epoxy paint.

Took it for a ride...
I was planning on riding from Tucson to San Diego next Tuesday where I have too attend a couple of medical conferences for my elderly parents. Sounded like more fun than driving the cage but the latest long range forecast has crushed that plan as they are calling for 60% chance of (significant), rain with 15 - 20 mpg winds out of the west (as in right on the nose, where else?).
I have only had the Dyna SG for 3 months and my riding buddies and the local club generally avoid the interstates as we prefer the two lane twisties. Not having all that many miles at interstate cruising speed I set out this morning to prepare for the San Diego trip.
Left at 7:15 and rode up to Gila Bend and then on up 85 to I-10. Headed east through Phoenix and on to Apache junction with lunch in Florence at the River Bottom Grill. A side trip out through Coolidge and then back south on I-10 saw me back home at 2:30 having logged just over 400 miles.
I "averaged" 75 (@2,800 rpm), and enjoyed ideal conditions, weather was perfect - not much wind and temps in the low 80's by noon through it was 45 when I left. Got 42 mpg consistently and the smooth torque rich power of the twin cam 96 never fails to amaze. The Sundowner seat kept my butt quite comfortable, especially considering I only stopped twice (coffee in Gila Bend and lunch in Florence).
Unless the forecast changes dramatically between now and Tuesday I'll have to put this ride on hold. Too many nice days to ride out here to bother when the weather sucks. Oh well at least i know the Dyna is ready to roll.

Took the carb off. Took it apart. Changed a jet from 195 down to 190, polished and rounded the slide, drilled out the vacuum hole, filed the accelerator pump nozzle and cleaned the whole thing. I'm no expert, just a guy who likes to tinker and ride. Whatever I did, turned out really well, with significant results!!! The rear-end dyno was really impressed!! The result was torque at every shift. (clearly more than before) and it seemed to pull better from 60-XXX.. uhh I mean it pulled better at highway speeds.
