Winter riding.... to Tombstone
Our local bike club, and interesting mix of rides {4 Gold Wings, a Valkerie, 4 Harley's, 4 BMW's, two trikes and a couple of Can Am's all piloted by senior citizens}, took it's biweekly ride and we left at 0900 bound for Bisbee, 135 miles to the southeast. At the first break my neighbor and I elected to just go to Tombstone instead and broke off from the group. Upon our arrival at Big Nose Kate's Saloon we ran into 3 other like minded members and all enjoyed a great lunch... ya gotta love the half lb Grand Hotel burger!
The ride up to tombstone was awesome, not a cloud in the sky though the southeasterly (as in right on the nose), wind at 15 to 20 mph wasn't a lot of fun until we got off I-10 and headed south on highway 83 to Sonoita. Left onto 82 at the junction took us due east to 80 and on in the last couple of miles to Tombstone. Got home with 243 miles showing on the trip log.
Tombstone sits at 4,500' so it was nice and cool, temps in the mid 70's but by the time we got back down to Tucson it was pushing up to the high of 85 but the wind had all but died. The Super Glide ran great netting me 50 mpg on the button cruising at an average of 65 - 70.

Tonight I installed the tank, battery, and seat then started the bike(it fired right up) and rode it around the back yard for a few. It sounds great, no funny noises from the engine, sounds smooth. I do not see any oil leaks anywhere at this point. I am waiting on an inclinometer to adjust the top engine mount before I take it for a ride. I also have a fuelpak to install. I may do that tomorrow night.

Woke up and decided to get started on my bar swap, figuring I'd take my time over the next couple of days since I'm working night shift all weekend. I should have known even with all the reading, and YouTube vids, things never go right after the first turn of the wrench. I had to stop and run up to the hardware store to hunt down a socket (which I thought I had but didn't), and upgraded the riser bolts. I finally fumbled my way through the tear down and swapping the bushings out for poly's. I finished with the bars (R6C 14' Holy Rollers) mounted. Now I got to run the wires, etc, etc...
I thought about plasti-dipping some stuff black, but didn't. I want to get everything finished and see what I have. I may want to keep a balance of chrome and black on her.

Gave her a bath and installed a new battery! Need to mount and balance her new shoes and give her an oil change and we are ready for Spring I have yet to spend more than an hour at a time sitting in her new seat and have barely ridden it since doing the Dynojet tune and stage one complete over the last couple of months
