What did you do to your Dyna today?
I'm not sure what a "fast" time for a Harley is but in the grand scheme of things I know they aren't very fast haha.
My bike started out as a V111 but has been almost completely gone through. Also its paired with a Baker transmission and chain drive. Also I was running 100 octane.
I will say I've ridden with a lot of people with much bigger motors than mine and I usually have no problem at all walking away from them effortlessly.
I just built my dyna to a 100" with heads and cams and it still doesn't even compare haha.

It all depends on what you build it for. I've a friend who has built both, one for 1/4 mile, and another for the Bonneville Salt Flats. The Salt Flats bike won't do great in the 1/4, though it actually has performed decently, and vice versa. With his Salt Flats bike, he almost broke the 200 mark by the time he quit running. He just couldn't keep sinking the cash into it, but he still builds bikes, though, and he's moved to SD so it's not as much of an expense/trip to go there. He may pick it up again. Who knows? He does seem to have the "bug" for speed!
Seriously though I do everything on this bike and never intended on it being anything of a "drag bike" so with that being said it handles amazing, gets decent fuel mileage and can/have sat in traffic in the heat of Houston weather.
I'll never get rid of it and it truly does everything I need or have ever thrown at it. I've ridden that bike 400 miles multiple days in a row and it hasn't complained yet!
The only reason why I bought my dyna was because of the quick detach sissy bar and bags for my better half haha. Even though she isn't happy I built the motor on that bike either, it's much more tame than my fxr and wouldn't hesitate to take a trip across country on either of them.
Also kudos to your friend getting the REAL speed!!!

I added a set of throw over bags to my new-to-me 2016 Low Rider....
I didn't like the way the bags stuck out with the standard 2-bolt brackets that attach to the shock and then the fender strut. So I bought a 1-bolt bracket (not listed for my bike) that fits on the fender strut bracket. It keeps the bags off the swing-arm and let me tuck then in, between the shock and the turn signal...
IMHO.... It looks MUCH BETTER this way....

So I bought a 1-bolt bracket (not listed for my bike) that fits on the fender strut bracket. It keeps the bags off the swing-arm and let me tuck then in, between the shock and the turn signal...
IMHO.... It looks MUCH BETTER this way....

The vast majority of the weight is on the yoke of the bags, but those brackets were not especially "robust"...
The round bar portion seems OK, but the "L" bracket that bolts to the strut is weak... Should it break, I'd replace the "L" bracket with a thicker steel... and then I'll be golden... Probably could do that for less than the cost of the first set of brackets I bought...
I will keep an eye on them.... Thanks again...
