What did you do to your Dyna today?
Would really recommend a small modification i did on my fxdx last weekend. (Bit proud of it, to be honest)
The only reason H-D didnt do it for us is because they were too greedy for it.
I really hate that part nr 6 (see picture) and i’m sure i’m not the only one. You wouldnt be the first who’d loose his clutch lever on the highway. It happened to me once a long time ago , and at least one friend told me about it as well. I even had double bad luck that time, because when i looked behind me i saw it getting smashed on the road by a police car, and I could hardly stop without a clutch, but that’s a different story...
the right tool for it is that one you never need, so when you finally do need it after years, it’s often lost... and besides that, nobody ever has it in his toolbox on the road.
Last saturday, my part nr 6 jumped away when i carefully tried to remove it (off course... ) and such a small ring, you’ll never find it back. Also it was evening, shops closed, and not a spare nr 6 around anywere..
What i did was take a 9mm bolt (it actually came from a wall-ancor-mount) so with the extra 1 mm space i could use a double part nr 2 (see picture). That gave a more thight fit compared to a 10mm bolt with only one part nr 2. its really much better then original now.
at the bottom side its grinded just long enough to fit a safety-nut.
Looks very neat like if it’s OEM , I’ll add some pictures later,

I don't mean to rain on your parade man but the only reason that circlip will fail (fall off) is if it's been removed/installed improperly or with the wrong tool. The design is totally solid and foolproof. Personally, I replace it with a new one if I ever have to remove it, I have a bag of them in my toolbox, next to an assortment of circlip tools of various sizes. Part of being a good mechanic is learning how to use and care for your tools properly. That tiny circlip takes a fair amount of finesse to install without stretching but you shouldn't let it defeat you to the point that you create a whole new retaining system.
Also, the retaining pin is made from nylon to prolong the life of your clutch cable not because Harley is cheap.
And yes you are correct about the cable pin in ptfe...
Correct. Steel pivot pin (bushing), nylon keeper pin (no bushing).

I have re-used (and at one time lost) the circlip. I felt the pin coming up and in a pinch, took the smallest of my zip tie collection and used that to get me home. (Turns out, it ended up staying there until my next service )

There's a special tool? In 60 years, I've always used a tiny screw driver to remove them and needle nose pliers to reinstall them. I've never damaged one that wasn't already toast, but I've probably lost a few over the years...
Took the Switchback out for a nice early evening ride down to the dock close to the house. Can't say enough good things about the Switchback!

Swapped out the factory horn for something a little more audible

New C&C Fastback seat just added.
Just got a new seat from C&C. The Fastback model. Great seat and love the backrest. What a difference it makes, especially on highway at high speed. Unfortunately I made a mistake thinking the old lady could ride with it, but it’s really not padded enough. Selling in on eBay right now $200 off and going to actually buy the C&C Sport Tour.
