What did you do to your Dyna today?
I'm a carburetored bike.. Checked torque specs on the bolt yesterday and they were little loose but not too bad.. Still have the chirp
Rolled it out of the garage to see it in it's current state. I'm finally almost done with the rear fender ('02 Wide Glide, widened to fit the '09 fender struts) and hope to start painting next weekend. Got a lot of other details to finish up before its ready to ride, but I'm getting there.
Really happy with how its looking so far.

Looking good ... what happened to FXST (200mm) fender idea?

Just threw on a new filter today,
got some progressive suspension rear shocks coming in tomorrow from Revzilla. My shocks are chrome and bottom out when I sit on the bike, Im only 220pounds. The new shocks are black. Rebuilt the Mikuni carb and cleaned it out.

I see, unsurprisingly, you're paying attention. I was able to successfully mate the Softail fender to my Super Glide fender, but I just wasn't happy with the proportions, and the top shape of the fender was so drastically different from the Dyna fender that my passenger seat fit terribly. Mistake #2 was I purchased an aftermarket fender, which was thinner gauge than OEM. Long story short, after many hours of cutting, grinding, and welding, I decided to cut my losses and try the Wide Glide approach, which has proven to be the right choice. A more talented fabricator could have probably made the Softail fender work, but my fabrication skills are based on taking a welding class in the late 90s and watching episodes of Full Custom Garage.
I did manage to get the front end to match up to the point the rider seat almost fit. The biggest issue is that the body line through the Softail fender is lower than the body line on the Dyna fender, so the bottom edge of the fender was above the rear strut mounting point. I probably could have made it work eventually, but the whole thing just looked too tall to me, and I didn't think I could live with that. The Wide Glide fender is actually slightly taller from the highest point to the lip above the tire, but the top edge is rounded instead of squared off, so it gives it the illusion of being shorter.

Always got to keep your eyes and ears open
Too bad it doesn't work out on Dynas, I think that Wide 200 looks good up in the fender on those Softails
Well, you would have never known if you hadn't tried ... thanks for the pic/detailed explanation

For comparison and future reference for anyone who's crazy enough to attempt this in the future, Here's the '02 Wide Glide fender cut in half and mounted on my '09 Super glide before I filled in the gap. At the front below the seat you can see where I sectioned in part of my original black Super Glide fender, to keep the shape and width correct. If I hadn't destroyed the rest of the fender in my original attempt, I could have used more of the original fender and sectioned it much further back, probably somewhere under where the passenger seat would mount. I also had to move the mounting holes down about an inch, as the fender struts on the pre-'06 Dynas are shaped differently.
