Going on a 7 hr trip in 2 weeks, and since I dropped the bike and broke my Memphis Shades batwing I'm going back to my windshield. I'm not sure if it looks ok, I'm so used to the batwing . I'm looking for some opinions.

I hear ya....put on a batwing fairing on my Switchback years ago. Don't think I could ever go back to just the windshield.

After riding the new bike for a few days, decided to do a 3 hole oil change and start the clock from 0. Dealer sells a 3 hole kit for $5(3 orings & a derby seal). Used bike from dealer, 28,000mi.

Primary was easy, drain, remove derby cover, and refill with Redline Primary Case Syn. Magnet was clean. Took almost the whole qt.
Transmission was the same, drain and refill with Redline V -Twin Syn Trans Oil. Magnet was clean, needed just under a qt.
Engine drained, filter changed. Filled with Mobil1 15W50 Syn(lots of cool temps for a couple months). 2.5qts is plenty even with a filter.

I'm a Redline man as well. Just curious why you didn't use Mobil 1 V-Twin? I'm not really clear on what makes it different than the other Mobil 1 blends either way.

Like you, I changed my oils when I got my new/used bike from the dealer because they didn't, and i had no idea how many miles were on it.

Yeah, my Redline days were a long time ago with 4 speeds and 9 in. gears. Next oil change for summer, I might go back to some 20W50 Redline in the crank.

Lot of guys here have bragged on the Mobil 1 15W50 and have a lot of miles on it. I have never tried it, wanted to give it a try,I think it will be fine.

Went by the dealer and picked up the refinished saddle bags and some new stock rear foot pegs. Looks different.

I'm a softail guy just browsing other threads and ya know what, I really dig this bike!

I've got a black and silver 03 fatboy that I'm making small modifications to that add to what it is rather then change it so I appreciate this bike alot. Good job Simmons!
