I went down riding my 2010 fatty 2 weeks ago. My last off was 23 years ago so I have had a good run.
It was relatively low speed, the car in front of me jumped onthe brakes, I emergency braked, counter steered and front washed out and I low sided but missed the car and the bars, tank and exhaust took the impact then it tank slapped and destroyed the steering stops, head stem, front fender, headlight, peg mounts and more.
To make matters worse it was towed and sat at the depot all weekend leaking brake fluid all down the front of the frame.
I ended up with 4 broken ribs, a haematoma on my knee, some skin off on my elbow, a torn rotator cuff and plenty of bruising. I've had some complications with the ribs and have been back in hospital over the weekend but am now on the mend.
The blessing in disguise was when I was in hospital getting fixed up they picked up a mass in my chest on the CT scan. I've since had a PET scan done where it lit up. I still have more tests and consults with the thoracic docs but hopefully go under to have it removed in the coming weeks.
We won't know if its "Good bad or Bad bad" yet but If I didn't crash the bike and end up in ER getting full body CT they wouldn't have found the mass until it was much bigger and probably invading other parts of my body so I am very thankful.
So happily the bike was a write off but I was able to get the majortiy of my $$$ parts off (with the exception of bars, risers and exhaust) and am well insured and now planning the next bike.

And you are alive to tell the story. I have done that. And I totaled 1 bike, drinking beer and riding. Damn near bought it that night.
NOW, no booze period. 35 years sober. Follow many car lengths behind.
I ride like an old man. Wait...

Got my new Saddleman seat...
Rode to work testing it out, looks nice and feels great on the cheeks so far 👍

I hogged out the holes in my sk8 bar so I could mount it with my JAGG cooler. Which by the way is the cats ***. 20-30* cooler on average. I don’t know what everyone else is seeing as far as engine temps but it’s been 85-90 here for a week and I haven’t seen a number over 260.

SOLD IT! Adios fellas. Thanx for the help and advice along the way, it's been great!
Ride safe!
Ride safe!
wait, what? Why?
Spending my last couple hours with my wide glide. At 8 o’clock I am taking her to the dealer to pick up my new fresh from the factory black 2020 low rider s. I feel like I am putting a dog down. Sold my fxr and Kawasaki Ninja 100. My thinking is the low rider s will meet the characteristics of all 3 bikes. Suspension like the Kawasaki, power like the stage 3 wide glide (right out of the box) and ride like my fxr. I will miss my wide glide the most for sure!
Well Damn ... going to miss you guys
