Default 12 mm spark plug wires

Why would someone need such large wires? I have 10 mm and thought they are to big. But my buddy says he is buying twistes spark plug wires 12mm. Seems a little expensive (60)....are they just for looks or is there more to it

They won't work any better than stock wires, so yeah. Just for looks...

I'm running wires from an old 300 amp arc welder. it was a little hard getting that 1/2" wire into the coil, but I really have good spark now!!

I am starting to believe that most of the stuff folks are putting on their rides is more about good marketing strategies by the aftermarket industry and less about actual increased performance...

i was talking with the guy at J&P and he claimed those were just 8mm wires with extra thick insulation to look fatter.
Not sure if he was correct but i ended up just going with accel ones instead.

people like to fiddle with their bikes, a lot don't know a whole lot about motors/bikes, but still enjoy doing things/modifications. let them, in most cases they don't hurt anything. big wires are not bad, not any better, but it gives them a sense of accomplishment. no harm, no foul. as long as they don't try to install that supercharger/turbocharger combination!!!!
