Default Tarnishing Chrome? Its bad on the eyes...

I haven't washed my bike at all but I've been chrome cleaning using Pig Spit when I can. It rains a lot around here and is windy. A lot a debris and dirt kicking in the air as you can imagine. I use a bike cover. After a quick polish today after a 3 day rain storm I noticed my bars aren't as 'Chromy' as they were. They seem to have tarnished. More a brown Chrome than a white. I'm afraid I've polished dirt into the chrome either due to not pre-washing or maybe using a dirty applicator. Anyone ever have or see this issue and may have a way to bring the chrome shine back to original?

i like simichrome polish. It cleans chrome/aluminum up and takes all corrosion out. I follow it up with a good wax

I believe the Fat Bob's stock bars are polished stainless, not chrome.
