Default Windshield is gettin' ugly

The windshield on my '91 Heritage is getting kind of tough to see through at night... lots of distortion and glare. Anyone know if it can be buffed out or improved?

The guys above gave you good info unless the film that Harley has installed on their windshields has worn off. This is why you can't use windex and other glass cleaners on your shield. It destroys the film. Even with care the film starts to peel after a number of years so yours may just be a lost cause. Try the PlastX before you by a new windshield.

Good luck

Terry

Either the above, or go to Memphis SHades online and order a replacment. Not that bad on priceing and you can get some really cool looking gradient shading on them.

Windshield is polycarbonate which has a polysiloxane coating on it for scratch, abrasion and chemical resistance. Basically the same coating that is on your plastic auto headlights. It can't be fixed with ANY polish. Do yourself a favor and buy a replacement...riding is much more fun when you can see where you are going! [:-]

The windsheild on my 92 went bad, too. The antiscratch was what took a dump... Looked like the glaze on a Krispy Kreme... Tried alot of stuff. Ended up stripping it off with generic non-acetone nail polish remover from Wal-Mart. Its crystal clear now. Just polish it with Pledge... I know, it's also ruined now, too. Hey its 13 years old showing spider cracks at the screw holes, too. At least I can see through it for this riding season and use the $ saved for now on a new tire! I think the lexan alone (no chrome, brackets, etc) was like $135 or so. Does anyone else make a replacement lexan for the factory w/s other than MoCo?
