Default Best products/method to detail a new black Harley?

Guys,
Just bought a new vivid black Fat Boy and before I screw up this beautiful finish I wanted to ask you experts how you would recommend washing, polishing, waxing the finish?

Products?
Methods?
Techniques?

Thanks,
Scott

I use Macquire's 3 step system.
Step 1= paint cleaner and de-oxidiser
Step 2= polish
Step 3= Wax.

This appears to be alot of manual labor but it really isn't bad. Follow the directions and you'll be amazed how well this product works.
Brings depth into your paint and is great protection.
Good Luck!

As far as protecting the finish, a lot of care needs to go into the washing to prevent swirl scratches. Most people don't know how to wash and as all of us that have or have had a black vehicle of some sort know, the darker the color, the more imperfections stand out. First, you need to use a large square sponge, shaped kind of like a brick. You should be able to find one at any auto parts store, Wal-Mart etc. With clean soapy water, you make one single straignt pass with one side of the soaked sponge. Rotate the sponge and take one single pass with the second side, rotate and take a single pass with the third side of the sponge, and the same for the fourth side. THEN RINSE AND WRING THE SPONGE. Never take more than one pass with the same surface of the sponge without rinsing. If you do you are basically rubbing the dirt and grime you just wiped away all over your finish and that is how you get swirl marks. If you always wash in this tedious style, then any decent wax as a follow up will produce great results.

Just my experience

Great advice guys. Any other's out there in Harley land? I know it's not the most exciting forum thread, but surely there are other black bike or dark color Haryley owners who don't like scratches or swirls in their paint!
