i have polished alum on my bike and during a week long ride when i couldn't clean it well my trees now have slight stains on the front edges. tried every cleaner/polish i own and they don't come out completely. i think it's from the bugs. anyone have a remedy?

IN dire situations I've used a good aluminum polish like Mothers or Black Diamond applied and rubbed with 0000 steel wool. It takes some elbow grease and persistance though.

Two products that I have used on the aluminum pieces, Autosol (a cream paste polish) , and Nevr-dull, it comes in a blue can, it is a cotton type material that you just pull bits out as you need. Both work very well!
