Muffers discolored-need help
My V&\\;H muffers are discolored from excess heat I suspect. Any suggestions on what may polish them back to there shiny finish?
My dealer said that they could do it but wouldn't share with me how, only that it would cost me an hour's labor charge.
I would rather do it myself anyway.

RE: Muffers discolored-need help
There used to be a product called "Blue Away" that would get rid of or lighten discoloration depending on how bad it was. The problem was it did so by removing layers of finish so if your pipes were pretty bad this would thin the chrome down to nothing making them look just as bad. Not sure if it's still available. We always used to treat the inside walls of our new pipes before mounting to cut down on discoloration. I sprayed the inside walls of my headers on my Iron head Sporty with Hi-temp paint and after 34k the front pipe had the lightest yellow tinge in the first 4" or so. Some guys swore you could do the same thing \\;using lightweight motor oil in the headers
