Polishing Bluing out of Chrome Slip On Muffler
Hey yall need some help here. I have a set of Vance and Hines Turn Down slip ons for my Ultra.....One of the slipon pipes has bluing near the base (Where it slips onto the main exhaust). Is this something that can be polised out or not? if so what do I use to do it. THANKS for your help!

Well allow me to answer my own question..and yours as well...I went and bought "blue Away" at the local MC shop. 17 dollars for a very small bottle....BUT it took 99 percent of all discoloration out. They were pretty dang blued when I got em...but the blue away did the trick..Ill put another couple of applications towards em to see if I ant clear em up the rest of the way, but if not, im happy with em. You like the way yours sound?? also did you install any thing else WITH the Turn downs like an air cleaner or a powercommander, or are you stock besides your pipes? hope this helps and lemm eknow.

Thanks. I'll give it a try.
I love the way those pipes sound... and I love the way the turndowns look.
I just did SE A/C and PCIII. The A/C changed the sound a little. I like it more now. I haven't had a chance to really get out and ride to evaluate the performance changes yet... but it feels good and I have noticed a difference so far.
The only other changes I have made are I changed out the ambient air temp gauge for an oil temp gauge and I also installed cruise control.
Other than that... everything else is stock.

Gentlemen, I've seen/heard of several folks asking about polishing the blue off their pipes. I run drag pipes on my Sucker Punch and they have blued considerably. Personally, I don't mind the blueing, as my bike doesn't have much "bling" anyway, and I spend more time riding it than I do polishing it. However.com, Fine steel wool with MAAS brand metal polish (comes in a siver tube, like toothpaste) will take the blue/yellow off.
