Just take care on the level of abrasives in the polish. They mostly work by removing material. I don't know how long it will take but eventually you will go through the chrome.

I did find an American product sometime ago that was a chemical only cleaner.

It's probably toxic and glows in the dark but it's been around forever and does a great job

It's like oil, everyone has their favorites. My go to is Blue Magic Polishing Cream.

I remember Simichrome and Blue Magic being recommended for aviation applications.

I've used a lot of Mother’s chrome polish, with as good as it gets results. Easy application and removal as long as you don’t let it dry/ haze on the chrome.

another one I have a good bit of experience with that I really like since it works as an aluminum, stainless, and chrome polish since my bike has all those surfaces and I can use one product for it all is Adam’s one step metal polish. Cuts quick, and polished off nicely but is kind of a bastard to shake up and get out of the bottle without getting a little polish precum first.
I have used Mother's for a long time. however, Zero-Zero steel wool is great for slightly worn Chrome with minimal amounts of corrosion. I thought way back then he was nuts but till this day I always touch-up here n there.

Lot's of options.

Chrome is easy to clean, imho.

I recently did my son's bike with NevrDull. It worked great. After, I wiped it down, and then thorourghly covered it and rinsed it with Gyeon Prep. I then sealed it with CanCoat.

The handlebars, mirrors, and forks sparkled.

I think they also had a number 7 car wash powder that was pretty good if I remember correctly.

I just polished my lower forks, I did the whole process.
150, 400, 800, 1400, 2000, Blue Magic, some other crap and finished with White Diamond (over kill)
Now what would I use to seal in the shine for as long as possible without clear coating them, just to prolong the shine?
