RE: Newbie here how to wash my bike...
3dog, its great to meet a guy that knows his stuff about cleaning. Sounds like you take alot of pride in what you do.
Im a Lexus tech and I can say that I totally have respect for our detail guys. They take a car that our customers bring in after beating the crap out of them, spills stains and scratches all over the place, and when they are done, the car (in most cases depending on how abused it was) looks brand new! Lord KNOWS I dont have the patience for that! If your bike is any indication, your a HELL of a detailer.
thanks for the tips... This should definitely be a sticky.
Vertigo, I dont think 3dog has anything to worry about. He may have listed the steps to really clean and make a bike look BETTER than the showroom, but making it look competition worthy is DEFINITELY a skill, and a testament to patience.

3dog,
Just a couple things I'd like your insight into if you don't mind.
I just got a new nightster, wondering if you have any advice on cleaning the mostly black bike. Is there anything special I should use on the denim black paint or wrinkle black components like the pipe covers and engine pieces?
Thanks for any advice you can give.
